The Decision-Maker’s Mindset: Balancing Courage and Clarity

Making a decision doesn’t mean having all the answers. It means accepting to move forward through uncertainty, with what you know in that very moment.

To decide is to know when to say yes, no, or sometimes maybe. And in every case, it’s remembering one simple truth: you have the right to change your mind.

Let Go of the Myth of the Perfect Decision

We’ve often been taught that making a decision means cutting once and for all — as if revisiting a choice were a sign of weakness or inconsistency. But the reality is quite different: Changing your mind isn’t contradicting yourself. It’s evolving, as new information, emotions, and perspectives emerge. Your value doesn’t decrease because you adjust your course. On the contrary — it grows, because you remain aligned with what you know now, not with what you thought you knew yesterday.

Clarity Doesn’t Mean Knowing Everything

It means seeing clearly through the fog (yes, even when it’s hazy), recognizing what depends on you and what doesn’t. It’s moving forward without full control, but with full awareness. Because a good decision isn’t the one that guarantees success — it’s the one that feels right for you, here and now.

Courage Is Deciding Without Certainty

Making a decision sometimes means saying yes to a direction before having the full map in your hands. It’s allowing yourself to think, to doubt, to adjust. And above all, to recognize that the moment of decision isn’t limited to when it’s spoken — it stretches across the entire inner journey that leads to it and follows it.

Challenge the Belief

To finally let go of the idea that “changing your mind means being wrong, ”start by replacing that inner injunction with a more honest question:

“What have I learned since my first decision?”

This simple reframing turns judgment into learning. It puts you back in an active, curious, and evolving mindset.

Changing your mind doesn’t mean stepping back — it means moving forward with awareness.

So next time you feel hesitant, remember:You have the right to think. The right to choose. And the right to change your mind when your reality evolves.

That’s what defines a true decision-maker: moving forward with courage — but always with clarity.
